Biofibre® Silva

Biofibre® Silva - virgin

Biofibre® Silva - recycle

The Biofibre® Silva product group contains the essence of Biofibre®. These are compounds based on a biopolyester matrix and wood fibers. The name “Silva” is based on the Latin origin for “forest” and thus symbolizes the importance of the naturalness of this product group.

Why and when to use Silva?

  • Food contact and toy industry approved (AIJU Spain)
  • Natural look & feel
  • Potent. compostable (industrial; all binder ingredients: DIN EN 13432)
  • For a variety of processing methods, e.g. injection molding, 3D printing, blow molding
  • Substitute for e.g. PS, PET
  • Application examples: Commodity products, rigid packaging, toy industry

Biofibre® Silva reveals itself with excellent stiffness and strength and can be used for complex mouldings with long flow paths at low wall thicknesses.
Biofibre® Silva is available in standard quality or food grade according to requirements.

Sustainable and biobased!

  • Engineering grade based on polypropylene and wood fibres
  • Suitable for production of complex articles with long flow paths at very low wall thicknesses.
  • Excellent processability, excellent surface finishing, dyeable with standard color masterbatches.
  • Typical markets are within applications were high temperature resistance, very short processing times, and low density is desired
  • Typical markets are within consumer articles, furniture industry, water-contact applications, automotive parts and rigid packaging.
  • Drop-in for e.g. PP, HDPE
  • Example: Flower pot with very thin walls
